Naval chief for following Iqbal’s philosophy
A two-day international conference titled ‘The Relevance of Iqbal’s Quranic Wisdom on Youth Education and Development’ began at the Bahria University Islamabad campus.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi graced the occasion as the chief guest at the inaugural session through video link.
The Bahria University organized the conference to pay tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal and inculcate the Poet of the East‘s philosophy into youth. Ambassadors of Turkey and Iran Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul and Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, respectively, were the guests of honour.
Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi stressed the need for truly following the philosophy of Iqbal to cope with challenges being faced by the country. The youth should be acquainted with Iqbal’s message, he added.
Iqbal Academy Director Dr Baseera Ambreen, Prof Dr Moeenuddin Nizam and Prof Dr Shahid shed light the teachings of Iqbal to get the crises to overcome. He stressed the youth must shape their lives to become the ‘Shaheen’ of Iqbal to improve the condition of our beloved homeland.
In his welcome address, Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat thanked the guests and speakers for participating in the event. He said based on the philosophy of Iqbal, the university aspires to provide opportunities to the youth for exploring beyond the horizon.
The two-day event consisted of special speeches, discussions and presentations on Iqbal’s wisdom. The university is promoting intellectual thoughts and visionary message of national heroes and scholars while it has ‘Iqbal Chair’ – a body which specifically focuses on objectives for implementing teachings of Iqbal amongst university students in an organised manner.
