Farhan Saeed regrets rejecting Meem Se Mohabbat
In an eye-opening chat on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast Excuse Me, Pakistani singer-songwriter and actor Farhan Saeed confessed he regrets turning down the romance drama Meem Se Mohabbat.
The actor admitted, “I shouldn’t have rejected Meem se Mohabbat. Because I was doing Shireen Farhad so I thought that was more interesting,” during a rapid-fire round.
It’s not a surprising admission given the drama’s blockbuster success: Meem Se Mohabbat, starring Dananeer Mobeen and Ahad Raza Mir, became the most-watched Pakistani drama of 2025, with over 1 billion views on digital platforms.
Many fans consider the Roshi–Talha pairing (Dananeer as Roshi Ayat, Ahad as Talha) one of Pakistani TV’s most iconic couples as their on-screen chemistry was widely praised.
Meem Se Mohabbat truly became a cultural phenomenon. Directed by Ali Hassan and written by Farhan Ishtiaq, the drama aired to record ratings and a fervent fan response. Viewers lauded its blend of heartfelt romance and social depth, which led to nationwide buzz and calls for a sequel.
The finale left social media in tears, and even months later fans were begging creators for a second season. In Pakistan’s 2025 TV landscape it stood out as a mega-hit, cementing its status with that astonishing billion-plus view count.
The podcast also served Farhan some spicy talking points beyond the drama. He gushed about his wife Urwa Hocane: “I connected with Urwa…she keeps me sane. She keeps a check on me…because I wasn’t this intelligent.” In a playful nod to their history, Farhan quipped “we were dating already in Udaari,” referring to the hit drama where the couple was first seen together.
He stressed he “will never try ghalat mardana role” (misogynistic parts) on screen, but added he’d like to experiment with other negative roles to challenge himself. Asked about the problem he’d like to curb, he laughed, “I can’t say no to people”, and advised against this, asking people to set boundaries: “Focus on your work quietly and don’t overshare,”
The Suno Chanda actor also teased future plans: he hopes to “collaborate with Atif” Aslam someday, recalling their Jal band days. Farhan even praised his family: he called sister-in-law Mawra Hocane “the sweetest… the most hardworking girl,” and said he “learnt clarity from Urwa.” Ever the doting dad, he wrapped up by sharing a wish for his little girl: “I want my daughter to be a great singer,” as the star’s thoughts are already on his child’s bright future in music.
