Murderer of kabaddi player killed in Chunian police encounters

Accused of killing international kabaddi player Nasir Pehlwan in Chunian has been killed in a police encounter, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to police sources, Amir alias Amri was involved in the murders of kabaddi player Nasir Pehlwan and Younis Jatt. 

The police were taking the accused for recovery when their accomplices, who were chasing him on a motorcycle, opened fire and burst the tires of the police vehicle, police said.

Accused Amri’s accomplices had blocked the road near the bypass with sapling trees and forcibly snatched accused Amri from police custody and an SMG rifle from a police official and fled. 

When the absconding accused were chased, an exchange of fire allegedly took place in the Kot Radha Kishan area. 

Amir alias Amri was killed in the police encounter and the rest of the accused escaped. 

According to the police, Amri had confessed to both the murders. Police teams have been formed to arrest the absconding accused.

Meanwhile, an alleged suspect named Farooq, wanted in robberies, theft and banditry, was killed during the encounter with Crime Control Department in Faisalabad.

According to police, five suspects coming from 237 Chak opened fire on the CCD team near Awan Pali.

The series of retaliatory firing continued for 20 minutes and one suspect was found seriously injured after the firing stopped.

Suspect Farooq was shifted to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

The remaining 4 suspects escaped, the search for the absconding suspects is underway.
