Iran executes man accused of spying for Israel

Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel and taking part in anti-government unrest, according to the country’s judiciary, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

Iranian authorities said the convicted man, identified in local media as Irfan Kiani, had links with Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad and had been operating on a special mission.

The judiciary stated that he was involved in activities aimed at creating disorder in the central city of Isfahan. 

Officials also alleged that he took part in attacks on security forces during protests held in January.

State media reported that Kiani had been found guilty of espionage and sabotage against the state before being sentenced to death.

Iran has previously announced arrests and executions linked to alleged intelligence operations involving foreign agencies, particularly during periods of domestic unrest.
