A vital set of features has been updated on Instagram, and users under the age of 16 will now automatically utilize the app's most restricted content option.

Additionally, it will encourage current teenagers to follow suit and create a new "Settings check-up" option that directs teenagers to change their privacy and security settings.

The updates are being sent out to users worldwide across platforms in response to rising regulatory pressure about social networking applications and the minor safety concerns that go along with them.

Instagram's "Standard" setting limits the amount of sensitive content users may view; the "Less" and "More" options further impose restrictions, respectively, while the "Standard" setting enables users to view just a limited amount of sensitive information or accounts. Teens presently only have accessibility to "Standard" and "Less," although users over the age of 18 normally have access to "Standard," "Less," and "More."

Instagram originally made its "Less" option available in June. In the US and other countries, it started to roll out a feature a week ago that suggests to teens users that they look at different content if they devote too much time on one specific topic and avoids subjects related to appearance comparison.

Instagram is also experimenting with teen-oriented suggestions that advise them to restrict who may engage with their posts. They will be required to examine privacy and security settings for things like who may message them, who can re-share their information, what kind of content they can read, and time management.
