Kakroach Janta Party announces fresh protest against Modi govt

The Kakroach Janta Party has accused the Indian government of failing to keep its promises and announced another protest for September 5, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to party spokesperson Sourav Das, the families of students who died after becoming distressed over paper leaks had still not received compensation from the Modi government.

He also alleged that the Indian government had taken no action despite assuring the party that several cases registered against students would be withdrawn.

The spokesperson said the Modi government had used severe force against the younger generation during earlier protests by the Kakroach Janta Party.

The party also referred to an investigation by Amnesty International, which it said had highlighted the use of force against young protesters by Indian security forces.

According to the Amnesty International report cited by the party, Indian forces used unlawful and deadly force during the protests. The report alleged that police used bullets, shotguns, tear gas, grenades and electric shocks against young protesters.

Aakar Patel, chairman of the Amnesty International board, was quoted as saying that Indian authorities had used communication blackouts and other restrictions before using unnecessary force against peaceful protesters.

The report also alleged that Indian police used pellet guns, which have previously been linked to deaths and cases of serious eye injuries in Indian-administered Kashmir.

The Kakroach Janta Party said its latest protest call, together with the allegations raised by Amnesty International, had exposed what it described as the Modi government’s double standards.
