Zanjeerain star Torsam’s “Rabiya Bhabhi” comment leaves fans in splits
Usman Javed, who plays the intense Torsam in Zanjeerain, has left fans laughing with a hilarious “Rabiya Bhabhi” comment during a recent live session.
During the live session, a fan asked Usman whether Torsam had forgotten Rabiya. Instead of giving a serious response, he laughed and jokingly corrected the fan, saying that she should no longer be called simply Rabiya but “Rabiya Bhabhi.”
Usman then added another playful punchline, saying, “Bhabhi toh maa hoti hai, maa,” which made the exchange even funnier. His comment played on the familiar South Asian expression of giving a sister-in-law a special place within the family, while also tying the joke to the evolving storyline of Zanjeerain.
The moment stood out because of the sharp contrast between Usman’s real-life humour and Torsam’s dark personality on screen. In the drama, Torsam has been portrayed as an intimidating character whose actions have pushed Rabiya into difficult situations. Away from the camera, however, Usman appears much more relaxed and enjoys joking with his audience.
He had another humorous response when a fan asked why Torsam killed Rabiya’s husband. Instead of discussing the character’s motives, Usman jokingly blamed the absence of antiseptic.
In a clearly playful explanation, he suggested that the man might have survived if he had antiseptic to treat his wounds. By turning a serious plot development into a mock medical explanation, Usman once again gave viewers a glimpse of his off-screen sense of humour.
The joke also highlighted just how different the actor is from the character he plays. Torsam’s actions in Zanjeerain have made him one of the drama’s more threatening figures, while Usman’s live-session interaction showed a much more playful side.
Fans have also been having fun with the evolving dynamic between Torsam and Rabiya, with some social media users jokingly referring to them through a “devar-bhabhi” lens. The playful reactions stand in sharp contrast to the intense family conflicts and darker developments in the drama.
Zanjeerain, written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, revolves around family rivalries, power struggles, love and long-held secrets. Sajal Aly plays Rabiya, while Usman Javed portrays Torsam, whose actions have become central to several of the show’s major developments.
Usman’s performance as Torsam has also attracted attention from viewers and entertainment outlets, particularly because of the intensity he brings to the character.
