Seat adjustment:  PML-N in trouble

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been caught in trouble over the seat adjustment with allies and party ticket distribution, sources said on Monday.

Reports said the PML-N has joined hands with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and the MQM.

The insiders said the presence of strong PML-N candidates in most of the constituencies of the national and provincial assemblies put the matter of seat adjustment in the quarry.

The allies' seat adjustment expectations are too high, the sources said, adding that the IPP has demanded more than 20 seats of Punjab National Assembly and 40 seats of Punjab Assembly from PML-N.

They said the PML-N showed a willingness to give 10 per cent of IPP the demand – 2 NA seats and PP 5 seats, they said.

The PML-N found it easier to settle matters with PML-Q as the latter agreed to the offer of the former 3 National Assembly seats and four provincial assembly seats, the sources said.

The inclusion of electables in Punjab has also increased the problems of Muslim League-N as they threatened to contest the election as independent candidates.

Moreover, the MQM could not take things forward despite consensus on forming an anti-PPP alliance in Sindh, including Karachi.
