Rs20 increase in petrol, diesel prices proposed

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has proposed a whopping increase in the prices of petroleum products, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Ogra forwarded the summary to the Petroleum Division on Friday. The proposed raise in the prices of petroleum products was determined on the basis of Rs30 per litre levy.
As per the Ogra recommendation, the petrol of price will go through the roof as Rs20.07 per litre was proposed. Rs19.61 per litre increase in the diesel price was proposed.
Under the present enforced petroleum levy, the increase in prices of petrol and diesel will be Rs6 per litre.
At the moment, a levy of Rs17.97 is being charged on per-litre price of petrol and Rs18.36 on per-litre price of diesel.
The Finance Ministry will take a final decision regarding the increase in the prices of petroleum products in consultation with the prime minister.
