As many as 980 positions of vaccinators lie vacant across Punjab as the children immunisation programme is faced with a severe manpower crisis, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the details, the drive of vaccinating the kids is being affected badly since 202 out of 546 seats of vaccinators lie vacant in Lahore.

The government has failed to recruit vaccinators against the vacant seats.

It merits a mention here that the decision to recruit vaccinators had been made last year, but it could not be implemented.

It has become extremely difficult to achieve the goals of Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) due to the shortage of vaccinators.
