A transgender became prey to a crossfire and died instantly during a wedding ceremony in Bannu, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to police, two groups started trading fire during a musical function in a wedding ceremony. A transgender who was also attending the function was hit by a bullet and died on the spot.

Three other people also got injured during the shootout between the two groups. 

Sources said they were unaware of what caused the two groups to start firing on each other. 

The incident occurred in the Garira Shah Jahan area of Bannu Tuesday night. 

The policemen who were performing duty at the wedding function remained unhurt during the firing incident. 

Police took the injured persons into custody.
