AJK Chief Election Commissioner assures tight security ahead of voting

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), retired Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, has appealed to the public to participate actively in the elections being held in Mirpur Division on 27 July, urging every eligible voter to exercise their democratic right.

In a public message issued from Muzaffarabad, Justice Mughal said casting a vote was a national, constitutional and Islamic duty. He urged citizens to come out of their homes and freely elect the representatives of their choice.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, he said the exercise of the right to vote was essential for strengthening democracy and encouraged voters to play their part in the electoral process by choosing candidates who could effectively address public issues.

The chief election commissioner assured voters that comprehensive security arrangements had been made at all polling stations.

He said security forces, supported by Quick Response Force personnel, would be deployed throughout the polling process to ensure a peaceful and orderly election.

Justice Mughal also warned that anyone attempting to disrupt the voting process would face legal action in accordance with the law.

He added that the state would ensure the security of voters travelling to and from polling stations, allowing them to cast their ballots without fear.
