Lahore traffic police to replace uniform again after just one year
Traffic wardens will replace current white shirts and blue trousers with bluish-grey uniforms: Punjab Highway Patrol will continue using its existing uniform design
The Punjab Police have decided to change the Lahore traffic police uniform once again, less than a year after the current design was introduced, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to police sources, traffic wardens will stop wearing the existing white shirt and blue trousers and will instead be issued a bluish-grey uniform.
The decision marks another revision to the force's dress code following last year's changes.
The previous uniform was introduced under former Chief Traffic Officer Athar Waheed.
At the time, each traffic warden was provided with Rs5,000 to purchase the revised uniform.
Police sources said the decision was discussed during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Inspector General of Logistics and Procurement.
The meeting was attended by the assistant inspector general of logistics, the superintendent of police for the resource management programme and the superintendent of Punjab Highway Patrol.
Under the new arrangements, the Punjab Highway Patrol will continue to wear its existing uniform pattern.
The report also said that officers and personnel of the Highway Patrol would be provided with a standardised uniform.
