Trump says he wants to run for president a fourth time

US President Donald Trump has expressed a desire to contest a fourth presidential election, despite the constitutional limit that prevents any individual from being elected to the office more than twice.

Speaking at a public event, Trump said his remarks might come as a surprise to many people. "This may be very big news for you," he said, before adding that he wished to run for president for a fourth time.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Trump has completed almost half of his second term in office. 

Under the 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution, no person may be elected president more than twice, making a fourth successful presidential election bid constitutionally impossible unless the Constitution is amended.

The president did not explain how such a campaign could take place or whether his comments were intended as a political remark rather than a formal declaration of future plans.
