Pakistan to host next SCO Women's Forum
Pakistan has secured the opportunity to host the next Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Women's Forum after Senator Bushra Anjum Butt led the country's delegation at the forum's meeting held in Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting was attended by delegations from all SCO member states and focused on strengthening socio-economic cooperation among member countries, with special emphasis on women's empowerment and their role in sustainable development.
Participants held detailed discussions on expanding business opportunities for women through regional cooperation, increasing women's representation in government institutions, enhancing their participation in international organizations and promoting their role in global decision-making.
Representing Pakistan, Senator Bushra highlighted the government's initiatives aimed at empowering women and informed participants about measures taken to improve women's social, political and economic participation. She also emphasized the significant contribution of women to Pakistan's economic development.
During the forum, Senator Butt took member countries into confidence regarding Pakistan's proposal to host the next SCO Women's Forum.
The proposal received support, and the next meeting of the SCO Women's Forum is scheduled to be held in Pakistan in September.
The development is expected to further strengthen Pakistan's engagement with SCO member states and provide a platform for advancing regional cooperation on women's empowerment and inclusive economic growth.
