Placement of dust bins mandatory in commercial centers, educational institutions

After directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has made the placement of five coloured waste segregation bins in educational institutions and commercial centers mandatory across the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday. 

Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) announced that strict action will be taken against all those commercial centers, shopping malls, plazas, and offices that do not place a five-coloured dust bin.

Separate dust bins are mandatory for paper, glass, organic, metal, and plastic. The EPA said that these five-coloured dust bins must be placed at a prominent point.

The EPA said that the Punjab Waste Management Helpline is available to assist institutions with regular garbage collection.

This initiative will help reduce environmental pollution, increase waste recycling rates, and make valuable resources reusable.
