MOFA Spokesperson said on Tuesday that the Foreign Minister will deliver a statement during the meeting, sharing Pakistan’s perspective on the latest developments.

At Pakistan’s initiative, the first meeting of Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan was held on 8 September 2021.

The meeting concluded with a joint statement, reflecting neighboring countries’ approach to Afghanistan.

Pakistan believes that the neighbours have a direct stake in the peace, stability and prosperity of Afghanistan. It is, therefore, important to remain engaged with a view to evolving a coordinated regional approach.

Pakistan will continue to support the international community’s efforts to promote the shared objectives of a peaceful, stable, connected and prosperous Afghanistan.

Iranian Foreign Ministry tweeted, “Tehran Meeting can provide a proper round for further talks about peaceful future of Afghanistan with the participation of all ethnic groups of Afghan society.”

Their joint statement also called for inclusive government and the necessity of not allowing Afghan’s territory to be used to threaten other countries.

Pertinent to note that FM Qureshi on Monday met Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan and conveyed Pakistan’s congratulations for Middle East Green Summit, a first in the region.

He said, “Always good to meet brother…look forward to continuing to work closely to strengthen bilateral relations with particular focus on trade, investment, energy & the environment.”
