Lahore police gets prepared to deal with TLP protestors at Muridke
The Punjab government on Tuesday ordered disarming the Lahore police, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In the light of today’s instructions, cops will not be allowed to carry weapons while dealing with the protestors or sit-ins. From now onwards, they will use anti-riot gadgets such as pepper guns, peanut ball guns, sticks, and tear gas.
In yet another development, Lahore police have completed their preparations to deal with the sit-in being held by the activists of proscribed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) at Muridke.
In this connection, senior police officials briefed SPs, DSPs, and SHOs at Police Lines in Lahore today (Tuesday).
A contingent of the Force will leave for Muridke today.
The cops will be equipped with pepper guns, tear gas, and sticks, except guns.
Contingents of Operation Wing, Investigation Wing, Security Division, Anti-Riot Force, and Dolphin Force will also be sent to the site of the sit-in.
It has been learnt that 1, 500 officers and jawans of Lahore police will be dispatched to Gujranwala to launch a grand operation against the workers of the banned outfit.
Meanwhile, sources have told 24News that alarm bells have started ringing in the ranks of Lahore police officials who now risk either losing their jobs or getting transferred for failing to restrict the TLP activists to Lahore before their march towards Islamabad.
It has been learnt that the chief minister is not happy at all with the police’s handling of the sit-in by the banned outfit, and has reportedly admonished the police officers for their failure on this front.
