Gujranwala school sealed after 10 test corona positive
The authorities in Gujranwala have sealed a school after another 10 teachers and students tested positive for coronavirus, taking the number of infected teachers and students in the district to 64, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Gujranwala Health Department Focalperson Dr Moeez said that there were 64 positive coronavirus cases reported among students and teachers in the district including three people in Nowshera Virkan. In another school, a teacher, a sanitary worker and a student also contracted COVID-19.
So far samples of 1,070 children and teachers have been collected while 2,800 people have been given training to collect the samples, the Gujranwala District Health Officer (DHO) said.
It is pertinent to note that seven more deaths caused by the coronavirus were recorded in Pakistan during the past 24 hours (Friday), raising the overall tally to 6,451, shows the latest figures shares by National Command and Operation Centre on Saturday morning.
However, the number of new cases found stood at 566 unlike the last two days when the virus was detected in around 800 people.
With the addition of these latest cases, the total number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Pakistan since the pandemic outbreak has now increased to 309,581.
The same period saw another 593 people fully recovering from the infection, which means a total of 295,333 coronavirus patients have so far overcome the deadly disease.
