PIA special flight landed at Islamabad airport carrying 49 stranded passengers including two German diplomats
The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) special flight from Frankfurt, Germany landed at Islamabad International Airport on Monday carrying 49 stranded passengers including two German Embassy diplomats, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported that quoting sources.
All the passengers have been put into the quarantine facilities for their further tests of COVID-19 as per the rules devised for all the international passengers reaching through special flights amid the coronavirus.
On April 26, Special Assistant to the PM for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari announced additional flights to bring back Pakistanis stranded in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, UK, Qatar, Turkey, Kenya, Bahrain and Sudan due to the flights operations suspension amid coronavirus lockdown.
He said that international flights to bring back the Pakistanis have been increased on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan and to facilitate the maximum number of passengers’ abroad.

According to the schedule, the flights will operate from May 1 till May 10 and will bring back more than 7,000 Pakistanis from nine countries mainly from the Gulf region.
Out of 30 scheduled flights from different GCC countries from May 1 to 10, around 17 will be operated from the UAE.
The PIA will operate 11 flights and UAE carriers will run the remaining six to repatriate stranded Pakistanis from the country, according to Syed Zulfi Bukhari, special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on overseas Pakistanis.
