PM Shehbaz lays focus on reforms in power sector

Gets briefings from Khurram Dastagir and Shazia Marri

Federal Power Minister Khurram Dastagir and Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation Shazia Marri called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday and briefed him about the performance of their respective ministries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Khurram Dastagir briefed the prime minister about the reforms in the power sector, especially about the progress on the steps being taken to end loadshedding from May 1.

The prime minister directed the power minister for reforms in the power sector on a priority basis, especially for the rehabilitation of the defunct power plants as soon as possible.

Shazia Marri also gave a detailed briefing to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about her ministry.

She heaped praises on the prime minister for announcing the inclusion of deserving people in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and scholarships and assistance to the parents for ensuring the education of the girl students during his visit to Balochistan.

She also apprised the prime minister of the proposed procedure of appeal for 820,000 people who were excluded from the BISP by the previous government without any inspection.

Welcoming the procedure of appeal, the prime minister directed that inclusion of the deserving people disqualified from the BISP without any reason must be ensured.
