The ‘track and trace system’ installed in sugar mills has started producing the desired results as it has increased production of these mills, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday. 

Quoting its sources, the channel reported that the sugar production which last year stood at 58, 60, 000 tonnes jumped to 79, 67,000 tonnes this year; thus registering an increase by 1.9 million tonnes. 

At the same time, sources added, the production of unregistered sugar in the country had started to drop.    

24News TV channel has also learnt that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken action 60 times against the mills not installing the system.
