The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the price of electricity by Rs2.94 per unit, which will take effect from April, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The decision will apply to all consumers of the power distribution companies; however, lifeline and Karachi-Electric (K-Electric) consumers have been exempted from the raise.    

Similarly, the NEPRA’s decision will also not apply to the electric vehicles’ charging stations.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), too, had requested for Rs2.94 hike in the power tariff under the head of FCA.

However, the NEPRA will release a detailed verdict after further scrutinizing the data.
