Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government should talk to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for relief because torrential rains and flood waters have wreaked havoc in the country, reported 24 News HD TV Channel on Saturday.

Addressing a large public gathering in Jehlum, he added that they urged to IMF for some relief when COVID-19 hit, Miftah should talk to IMF and ask for relief amid floods and rainfall destruction.

Miftah is demanding provinces to pay a budget surplus for tribal districts, how would provinces do it in floods? he questioned.

PTI Chairman said that he would continue helping the flood victims but would not stop his campaign for real independence for the people. "Our struggle will continue even in the face of floods and wars; our struggle will continue until we achieve true freedom," he added.

Imran Khan said these are testing times and he believes that the Pakistanis will come out of this crisis as a strong nation.

He said that we will have to construct more dams to save the country from such floods. “The PTI government had started the construction of 10 dams, that would soon be operational. Dams would turn this calamity into a blessing,” he added.

Refuting the government’s allegations for jeopardizing the IMF deal, Imran Khan said, "Miftah Ismail is saying that we want to make the IMF program fail. For two months, Taimur Jhagra has been calling them for a meeting.

Imran Khan added that his opponents are campaigning on media that he should not be doing public gatherings amid floods and heavy rainfall, but it’s not a political campaign for him but a struggle for real independence.

Imran Khan said that the struggle will continue till freedom from thieves, he added. He will help the flood victims in every possible way, but will not leave the thieves.

PTI chairman lamented that no one is ready to give money to the allied government.

On the occasion, PTI Chief announced the establishment of a fund to collect donations for the flood-affected people of the country. “Dr. Sania Nishtar will head the relief and rescue fund collected via the telethon” he added. He said that he would show the world how the money is collected. "Our government saved Nowshera by constructing a dyke. Taunsa city would have drowned had the Buzdar government not constructed a dyke there," he maintained.

The PTI Chief said overseas Pakistanis have always helped in the crisis, may it be the floods of 2010 or the Kashmir earthquake in 2005.

He said that Imran Khan will calling for the country’s vibrant diaspora to help their countrymen in this hour of test.

He added that Pakistan was way ahead of India and Bangladesh in terms of progress but then these two corrupt families took over and destroyed our country.

Khan said that he only talked about legal action against people responsible for illegal actions against PTI activists but he was charged with terrorism. They are trying to sideline the country’s biggest political party via a conspiracy, he added.

The PTI Chief pointed out that the government has illegally suspended ARY News transmission because they voice PTI’s narrative. Journalists have been arrested and forced to leave the country due to their fascism. He hinted that the inflation rate in their time was 16%, which has jumped over 40% in the last 4 months.

He said due to floods, people are suffering in Baluchistan, Sindh and Punjab, adding that we all have to face this test together, as we faced in the 2010 floods, while Tiger force will go to the affected areas and help the governments.
