Killer dumper claims another kid's life in Karachi
Another tragic incident involving a speeding dumper truck has claimed a young life in the city, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
A three-year-old boy, Aun, was killed while riding a motorcycle with his uncle in Malir’s Alfalah, Millat Town area on Monday. The child’s uncle sustained injuries in the crash.
Police said Aun, the only son of his parents, died on the spot after the dumper rammed into the motorcycle.
The dumper driver fled the scene, but law enforcement officials managed to arrest the cleaner and another associate while the truck itself was taken into custody.
The accident has once again highlighted the dumper menace in Karachi, which has previously sparked violent backlash from residents. On August 10, public fury boiled over after a dumper crushed siblings to death in the Federal B Area.
The enraged crowd at that time torched seven dumpers and thrashed a driver, forcing police intervention.
The Dumper Owners’ Association responded by blocking the Karachi Super Highway, causing massive traffic disruption. Police later arrested ten suspects over arson and violence.
