Met office predicts another rainy spell from Aug 29 to Sept 2
The Met Department has predicted a fresh spell of rains across the country starting August 29, with showers expected to continue in different regions until September 2. The weather system may trigger urban flooding, landslides, and wind-related damage in vulnerable areas. According to the Met Office, the upcoming rain spell will affect all provinces.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rain is expected from August 29 to September 1 while in Punjab and Islamabad showers are likely between August 29 and September 1. Sindh areas may receive rain on August 30 and 31. Balochistan is likely to face rains from August 30 to September 1.
The Met Office cautioned that heavy rainfall may lead to landslides in hilly areas and urban flooding in major cities. Strong winds and thunderstorms could also cause damage to weak infrastructure and standing crops. Local administrations have been advised to remain on high alert during the forecast period and ensure that precautionary measures are in place to minimize potential losses. Citizens living in flood-prone or landslide-prone areas have been urged to exercise caution and follow safety advisories.
