Stakeholders huddle to discuss opening of Madaris’ bank accounts

A meeting was held between religious scholars and the officials of concerned departments on Thursday for the opening of bank accounts of Madaris (religious seminaries), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Officials of the State Bank of Pakistan and commercial banks also attended the huddle.

The meeting pondered over the removal of legal and administrative obstacles in the way of opening of accounts, which is a longstanding demand of seminaries.

The participants agreed that these obstacles would soon be removed.

The meeting decided that the process of the inclusion of seminaries in the banking system would be accelerated, and in this connection, consultations with the officials of different banks would continue.

It was noted that accounts would improve seminaries’ financial discipline and would help them receive donations in a disciplined fashion.

This would, the meeting concurred, build trust between Madaris and the state.

The participants decided to go ahead with their efforts to build trust between the state and Madaris.
