Saudi FM praises Pakistan’s efforts against coronavirus

Stressing the need for the resolution of disputes through dialogue, Saudi Foreign Minister (FM) Prince Faisal bin Sultan said on Tuesday that issues, including Kashmir, also came under discussion at delegation-level talks between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking to the media after the talks in Islamabad, he said the discussion on regional issues was also very important.

Saudi FM said his country was looking forward to working with Pakistan in diverse fields.

Lauding Pakistan’s efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Prince Faisal said delegations of both the countries had also discussed the restrictions imposed in view of the pandemic. “The government of Saudi Arabia has vaccinated all 1.7 million Pakistanis living in the country against the virus,” he informed.

He also praised the contribution made by the Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia to the Saudi economy.

“This is my second visit to the country, and I thank you for the reception I received here,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi likened the progress of Saudi Arabia with that of Pakistan. “The development of Saudi Arabia is the development of Pakistan,” he commented.

He further said that both the countries had assisted each other in difficult times. “We are thankful to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their help and cooperation in times of crisis,” Qureshi added.

“Pakistan wants regional peace and stability,” the foreign minister said, and added, “The stance of Saudi Arabia on Kashmir issue is praiseworthy. We are also appreciative of the proactive role the country plays at OIC meetings.”

He assured the Saudi dignitary that Pakistan would continue to support the integrity of the kingdom. “Every Pakistani has lot of respect for the country,” Qureshi said, and hoped that frequent interaction between the two sides would further strengthen the bilateral ties.

He stressed the need for the resolution of Afghan issue through comprehensive negotiations.

The FM urged the world to pressurize the Afghan leadership to work for finding a solution to the problem.

Earlier on Tuesday, bilateral ties, cooperation between the two countries in diverse fields and regional and international issues came under discussion at the delegation-level talks that were held between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
