1,000 kg of donkey meat seized in Islamabad, Chinese citizen arrested

A case has been registered in Islamabad's Sangjani Police Station following the recovery of a massive quantity of donkey meat from a farm, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to police sources, the food safety officer lodged the formal complaint, leading to immediate action.

A team from the Food Safety Department, along with local police, conducted a raid on the suspicious site.

During the raid, 1,000 kilograms of donkey meat was seized, while 45 live donkeys were also found on the premises.

One Chinese national was taken into custody for questioning, as the individuals present at the farm failed to produce any legal documentation for meat processing or transportation.

All the recovered haram (prohibited) meat was destroyed on the spot by the food safety team.  Authorities are investigating the matter further to determine the destination of the meat and whether it had already entered the local food supply.

The police emphasised that such illegal and unethical practices pose serious threats to public health and will be dealt with under strict food safety and criminal laws.
