Sudan's civil war escalates as RSF declares parallel government

The ongoing civil war in Sudan has taken a dramatic new turn after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) — a powerful paramilitary group — announced the formation of a parallel government.

The RSF has appointed Mohamed Hassan Al-Taishi, a former advisor to the Sudanese government, as the interim prime minister. 

RSF spokespersons stated that the newly announced administration will include representatives from all tribes and regional factions, aiming to put the country on a “democratic path.”

In response, the ruling Sudanese military government has rejected the declaration, calling it unconstitutional and branding it a conspiracy against the sovereignty and integrity of Sudan.

The announcement by the RSF marks a major escalation in the already volatile situation, raising fears of further fragmentation and conflict in the war-torn nation.

Observers say this could significantly complicate efforts for peace and stability, especially as international mediation attempts continue to falter.
