Zainab Raja alleges 'Major Injustice' against female contestants on Tamasha
Pakistani media personality and former Tamasha contestant Zainab Raja has made a series of startling claims about her experience on the reality show, alleging that female contestants faced a ‘major injustice’ while also shedding light on what she described as behind the scenes practices that viewers never got to see.
Taking to her Instagram account, Zainab shared a video in which she clarified that while she never objected to the show's editing decisions, she believed one aspect of the competition was fundamentally unfair.
According to her, male contestants were allowed to leave the house every Friday to offer Jummah prayers, giving them access to the outside world, an opportunity that female contestants never received.
"The biggest injustice on Tamasha was that the boys went outside every Friday for Jummah prayers. They got to know everything happening outside, while the girls had no such opportunity," she said.
Zainab alleged that some male contestants even encountered fans during these outings, while one contestant was allegedly able to speak with an assistant or manager over the phone regarding business matters. She further claimed that contestants would occasionally learn about public opinion and online comments during these trips, giving them an advantage inside the competition.
The influencer also revisited some of the behind the scenes details she had previously shared about the show.
She claimed that housekeeping standards were poor, alleging that bedsheets were not changed regularly. Zainab further alleged that the show's host, Badshah Salamat, was allegedly briefed by the production team on what to say to contestants, suggesting that certain confrontations were planned to boost television ratings.
Calling reality television far from reality, she said:
"Everything is done for TRPs. A particular script is followed. TV isn't always what it looks like."
Addressing criticism she received after making similar claims in the past, Zainab said she was accused of trying to defame the show and its broadcaster. However, she dismissed those accusations, adding that she no longer sought validation from the television industry.
She also referenced the late actress Humaira Asghar, expressing disappointment over what she described as the industry's failure to properly acknowledge or pay tribute to the actress despite her contributions to television.
Zainab concluded by saying she remained mindful of what she shared on social media but believed audiences deserved to know that reality television often differs significantly from what is ultimately shown on screen.
