Saudi company Aramco slashes high-octane petrol price by Rs200 per litre in Pakistan

In a major relief for motorists, Saudi company Aramco on Friday significantly reduced the price of high-octane petrol at its retail outlets across Pakistan.

According to details, the company has cut the price from Rs610 per litre to Rs410 per litre, offering a substantial reduction of Rs200 per litre. The move is expected to bring considerable savings to consumers, particularly owners of high-end vehicles that rely on premium fuel.

The development comes shortly after the government increased the levy on high-octane petrol from Rs100 to Rs300, pushing market prices to record highs. Following the levy hike, high-octane petrol was being sold between Rs600 and Rs610 per litre at various fuel stations nationwide.

At outlets operated by Pakistan State Oil, the price had been recorded at around Rs589 per litre.

Industry observers say the sudden price cut by Aramco may create competitive pressure in the fuel market and could influence pricing strategies of other oil marketing companies.

High-octane petrol is primarily used in modern vehicles equipped with turbocharged and high-compression engines. With the increasing number of imported and locally manufactured vehicles requiring premium fuel, demand for high-octane petrol has been steadily rising in the country.
