Pakistan Covid-19 cases near 60,000, deaths stand at 1,225

The coronavirus cases in Pakistan increased by 1,446 during the past 24 hours raising the overall total to 59,151, said the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre showed on Wednesday morning.

The same period saw the death of another 28 patients in different parts of the country after which the death toll climbed to 1,225.

Meanwhile, there was a marked decrease in the number of tests conducted as the official data says another 8,491 people were tested. It means a total of 499,399 tests have so far been carried out since the coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan.

As of Wednesday morning, there are 38,784 active cases in the country while 19,142 patients have fully recovered from the infection.

The details of active cases are: Sindh 14,618, Punjab 14,571, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5,265, Balochistan 2,338, Islamabad 1,709, Gilgit-Baltistan 172 and Azad Kashmir 111.

On the other hand, most number of reported coronavirus cases are found in Sindh where 23,507 people have so far been infected, which is followed Punjab 21,118, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa8,259, Balochistan 3,536, Islamabad 1,879, Gilgit-Baltistan 638 and Azad Kashmir 214.

As far as the deaths are concerned, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to top the list with latest figures being 416. Sindh is second with 374 followed by Punjab 362, Balochistan 42, Islamabad 18, Gilgit-Baltistan nine and Azad Kashmir four.
