Book fair concludes at KEMU

Two-day book fair concluded Thursday at King Edward Medical University were the Ex-Principal KEMC Prof. Mahmood Ali Malik and the Vice-Chancellor UHS Prof. Javed Akram graced the occasion as chief guests.

Guests of honors included General Shehla Baqai from Army Medical Core, Ex-VC KEMU Prof. Kazi Saeed, Principal AIMC Prof. Arif Tajammal, Principal PGMI/ADMC Prof. Sardar Fareed ul Zafar. Other guests included Pro-VC KEMU Prof. Ijaz Hussain, CEO Mayo Hospital & Dean Medicine & Allied Prof. Saqib Saeed, renowned poet Syed Salman Gillani, Dean Preventive Medicine  Prof. Saira Afzal, Chairman Pediatrics & Controller Examinations Prof. Haroon Hamid, faculty members, and medical students.

On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, addressed the audience and highlighted the achievements of the University and the services of the legendary Prof. Mahmood Ali Malik.

He said the book fair would help turn around the decline in the interest in book-reading. He mentioned to continue collaboration with UHS in the field of Telemedicine and research. He thanked the senior teachers and the medical fraternity for their participation in the book fair. Prof. Saira Afzal gave a brief on the 162-year history of KEMU.

Prof. Sardar Al Fareed Zafar appreciated the progress KEMU has made under the leadership of Prof. Khalid Gondal. He further said that the Kemcolians always excel in their field wherever they work. He urged audience to pay more time to book reading.

Prof. Arif Tajamal said that although he has served 18 years in the faculty of AIMC, but KE remains in his "genes", which is the reason of all he has achieved in his life.

Prof. Javed Akram said being a Kemcolian is his real pride. He acknowledged the efforts of the organizers of the Book Fair. He further urged the participants to take deep interest in research and publications.

Prof. Mahmood Ali Malik congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on holding the Book Fair.

At the university stall, both editions of History of KEMU, Policy Manual of KEMU, book by Ex-Principal Prof. Khaeaja Sadiq Hussain - " Reflections" and book by Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal - "Mushahudaat" were also exhibited, in addition to the books by other faculty members.

At the end of the event shields and gifts were given to the guests and Organisers including Prof. Haroon Hamid, Prof. Intizar Butt and the organising students - Farhan Zafar, Muhammad Umer, Sheraz Ali, Soban Nisar, M. Abubakar, Umer Iftikhar, Farwa Athar, Faiza Naeem, Haseeb Ahsan, Ammar Khalid, Umer Sheroz, Ali Akbar, Ammar Abid, M Ayyan, M Ehsan, Bieh Mustafa, Abdullah Ilyas, Ahmed Nawaz, Momina Awan, Fatima Abid, Noor ul Huda, Maryam Badar, and others.

Prof Haroon Hamid (staff presidents extended gratitude to the guests, paid thanks to the VC & Facult for their facilitation if the event, and applauded the students who organised the successful Book Fair.
