Tomorrow, sun over Kaaba offers accurate Qibla direction

Muslims around the world will have a rare opportunity to determine the exact direction of the Qibla as the sun passes directly over the Kaaba tomorrow, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to astronomical calculations, at 12:18 PM Pakistan Standard Time, the sun will be directly above the Kaaba in Makkah. 

This precise alignment allows observers to use the direction of their shadow to accurately determine the Qibla direction — the direction Muslims face during prayers.

To make use of this natural phenomenon, one should stand straight under the sun at the given time and mark the shadow on the ground. 

The shadow will point in the opposite direction of the Qibla, so facing the shadow’s direction will align you with the Kaaba.

This celestial event occurs twice a year, and the next occurrence will be on July 16.
