In the old days, dark complexion was seen as a taboo whereas now people seem to have gotten accustomed to the fact that even dusky-toned complexions can be striking and there is no need to discourage or bully others for their dark-toned skin.
Laila reveals that in the early days she was a dusky girl with a bob cut when Shamim Aara paid attention towards her and launched her into films. Thus, young Saira then became Laila and a simple girl got transformed into a popular diva.
