Senior journalists and analysts have called for bringing to book the illegal construction mafia who dashed dreams by residents who have spent their lifetime savings for the purpose.

During 24newshd tv programme – DNA – Salim Bokhari, Iftikhar Ahmed, PJ Mir and Javed Iqbal felt strong concerns for the victim of illegal buildings like Nasla Tower. Salim Bokhari said that one can gauge the grief of the person devastated by such a big loss and then subjected to tear-gas shelling and baton charge.

PJ Mir said that the builders’ too joined the protest over the issue and went on strike.  Iftikhar Ahmed questioned as to why authorities in Islamabad let builders build a big tower when illegal buildings are being demolished in Sindh. Saleem Bukhari said buildings can be regularised by imposing fines on builders.

The CJ must take action against illegal buildings, he said, adding the persons behind this must be brought to book for robbing the residents of their lifelong earnings. Javed Iqbal came down hard on government and private builders for leaving the people in the lurch.

On the notice of commercial use of military lands by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Ahmed said that regarding construction of plazas and marriage halls, the secretary defence assured the court that there would be no commercial constructions on future.

About Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz's statement on bringing a mini-budget without imposing taxes, they observed the government itself does not even remember how many money budgets came and how many taxes were imposed.

The biggest challenge for the government is to save the people from inflation, they maintained.
