Lahore private schools refuse to follow Punjab Free & Compulsory Education Act

Lahore’s elite private schools have refused to implement Punjab Free and Compulsory Education Act 2014, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Education authorities failed to provide free education to 10 percent deserving children in elite schools.

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) noticed private schools for not implementing Punjab Free and Compulsory Education Act 2014.

According to Act, private schools are bound to provide free education to 10 percent deserving children under the Punjab Free and Compulsory Education Act.

PAC expressed displeasure over District Education Authorities’ failure to implement the Act.

Public Accounts Committee ordered audit of private schools for not providing free education to 10 percent deserving children.

Education Authority Lahore to conduct special compliance audit of 25 percent of the city’s high-fee schools.

Education Authority Lahore to submit detailed compliance report to PAC after audit.

Based on the report, the Free Education Act will be extended to more schools in Punjab.
