Price hike remained the topic of discussion at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Tuesday.

As all ministers talked about the most talked about issues of the country, the prime minister shared the government’s plan to control the prices.

According to sources, cabinet members Pervez Khattak, Murad Saeed, Faisal Vawda and Nadeem Afzal Chan strongly reacted to unbridled price hike in the country. Pervez Khattak said that bureaucracy was responsible for the price hike. He said that bureaucracy had failed to curb price hike. “Why didn’t the bureaucracy take timely steps to curb price hike?” Khattak asked.

Other ministers followed suit and highlighted the consequences of price hike. According to sources, Vawda said that bureaucracy’s traditional tactics should be exposed.

Responding to the cabinet members, the food security secretary said that he had 30 years of service. He said the entire blame should not be shifted to his department.

The cabinet meeting approved reforms in the Pakistan Railways. These reforms also include Dr Ishrat Hussain’s recommendations on completion of the ML-1 railways project and revival of the KCR. The cabinet also approved the plan to hire three technical advisers for the Pakistan Railways.
