IHC stops Accountability Court from indicting Zardari

In the Suspicious Transaction Reference against former President Asif Ali Zardari, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday stopped Accountability Court to frame indictment on the accused.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Amir Farooq heard Zardari’s petition against the decision of Accountability Court and adjourned the case till on Wednesday.

Giving relief to the accused in the reference, the IHC judges also issued notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking a reply on the matter.

Advocate Farooq H Naik appeared before the court from the former president and said that Zardari had not bought the property as a public office holder but as a private person.

Later, the IHC adjourned the case till November 04.

Pertinent to mention here that the accountability court had summoned Asif Ali Zardari tomorrow in the suspicious transaction reference. The accountability court had rejected Zardari's plea for acquittal before indictment.
