Lahore police launch crackdown against kite-flyers and metal strings

Police seized 35726 kites and 1791 spools of metal string during a crackdown against kite flying in Lahore during the current year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

A spokesman of Lahore police said that police also arrested 1681 people and registered 1647 cases against them.

The spokesman further revealed that police impounded 306 kites and 1791 spools from their possession.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that strict action will be taken according to anti Anti-Kite-Flying Act.

Kamiana stressed that the loss of human lives due to kite flying is unacceptable, underscoring that individuals involved in the production, distribution, and use of hazardous materials like metal strings and kites should face severe consequences.

He mandated that both field and supervisory officers be held accountable in cases of injury caused by metal strings. 

He urged the public to demonstrate responsible citizenship by promptly reporting instances of kite flying to the authorities via the dedicated helpline 15, ensuring the safety of fellow citizens.
