South Africa skipper says series against Pakistan crucial ahead of T20 World Cup

South Africa’s T20 captain, Donovan Ferreira, has said that the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan is crucial for his side as the T20 World Cup draws near, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

Addressing a pre-series press conference in Rawalpindi, Ferreira said South Africa had been playing good T20 cricket recently and were eager to carry that momentum into the series.

“This series is very important because the World Cup is approaching. Our team has been playing quality T20 cricket, and we have talented batters and bowlers who can make a big impact,” he stated.

The South African skipper admitted he had yet to assess the pitch conditions. “I haven’t seen the pitch yet because I didn’t attend practice today. We’ll know after the first few deliveries what kind of surface we’re dealing with,” he explained.

Ferreira maintained that South Africa would approach every match with a winning mindset.

“Whatever the conditions, we play to win every game. Winning the first T20I will give us strong momentum for the rest of the series,” he added.
