PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has rejected the lower house session called by Speaker Asad Qaiser for considering election reforms, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a statement on Sunday, Shehbaz Sharif said the present government should not do politics on the matter of Gilgit Baltistan which is a sensitive national issue and linked to the Kashmir cause.

The PML-N president said the PTI government should not create hurdles in the way of free and fair elections in Gilgit Baltistan. “Keeping in view government’s fascist and dictatorial behaviour we have decided not to extend any kind of cooperation to it,” he added.

Shehbaz Sharif declared that the National Assembly Speaker has no powers to interfere in the electoral process of Gilgit Baltistan.

He said the government has ignored every cooperation the Opposition had extended in the best national interest, rather the rulers used it for their political stunts.

He said they will honour the decisions and resolutions passed by the Opposition’s All Parties Conference (APC).
