Pakistan records 415 coronavirus cases, nine deaths
With the coronavirus pandemic being contained on a sustained basis, Pakistan again reported less than 500 new cases during the past 24 hours, shows the figures released by National Command and Control Centre released on Friday.
Hence, the overall number of coronavirus infections increased to 295,053 after another 415 people were diagnosed with the virus on Thursday. Earlier, 445 people had tested positive on Wednesday and 482 people on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, nine people died of the virus during the same period, raising the death toll to 6,283.
Although the deadly virus is still spreading in different parts of the world with varying intensity especially some countries of Europe where a spike has been witnessed in new cases, the number of fatalities are on a decline. However, medical experts and scientists are unable to determine the actual reason behind this welcoming trend.
On the other hand, the number of active cases in Pakistan currently stands at 8,833 as the country continues witnessing a contained pandemic with a marked decline in both new cases and deaths.
Out of these active cases, 1,083 patients are currently under treatment in hospitals with the number of those on ventilators standing at 110.
These figures mean that a total of 286,220 coronavirus cases have closed [deaths + recoveries] in the country as 279,937 patients have fully recovered from the infection.
As far as the region-wise distribution of the coronavirus cases is concerned, Sindh tops the list after officially reporting 129,081 infections.
The similar figures for other provinces/regions are: Punjab 96,636, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35,923, Islamabad 15,578, Balochistan 12,742, Gilgit-Baltistan 2,816 and Azad Kashmir 2,277.
Meanwhile, 23,483 people were tested for the virus during the past 24 hours which means the overall number of tests conducted since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in the country has increased to 2,559,261.
