PDM heads to chalk out future strategy in Karachi huddle today

Heads of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an opposition parties’ alliance, will today (Saturday, August 28) put their heads together in Karachi to mull over the option of forming an alliance for the next general elections scheduled to be held in 2023, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Quoting its sources, the TV channel reported that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief and PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman would chair the meeting at which the alliance leaders would discuss the prospects of the formation of an electoral alliance on the recommendation of the Steering Committee.
Heads of the constituent parties of the PDM would also hold consultations over speeding up the anti-government movement.
Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz are expected to address the sitting via a video link.
PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif is already in Karachi to attend the PDM events.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the PDM’s public gathering to be held at Bagh-e-Jinnah in Karachi tomorrow (Sunday) as containers have reached the venue for setting up the stage while chairs are also being arranged.
