CDA decides to implement cashless economy system in capital

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced plan to make Islamabad a model as Pakistan’s first cashless city, making QR code-based digital payments mandatory across all businesses and public transaction points.
This was decided in a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood at the headquarters. Members of The State bank of Pakistan, Islamabad Capital Territory and commercial banks were present in this meeting. In an announcement, making payments through QR code was made mandatory for businesses. Traders of all levels, retailers, wholesalers and markets were also included in the digital payment system.

In the meeting, agreements with the banking sector were made to establish a unified interface for all merchants along with a decision to launch a massive campaign to create awareness among the public about the digital payment system. 
All the members of the meeting committed to remove obstacles in the said cashless economy and include every sector of commerce in the system.
The President of the meeting, Talat Mehmood said that Cash transactions will be eliminated in the CDA also and all payments will be made through online system. He further said that a paperless system will be introduced, promoting transparency and fast transactions.
The CDA will issue a notification regarding the QR code display soon.
