First consignment of 146 electric buses reaches Islamabad
First consignment of 146 out of 160 electric buses have reached Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA), the last batch of 14 buses has left for Islamabad from China.
CDA officials said that construction of zero-point charging station has been started.
Earlier, construction of charging station was delayed due to tender cancellation twice and now, CDA has issued a tender for charging station at low rates, CDA officials said. Chargers and parking area for new routes will be prepared first, officials said.
CDA officials said in the first phase, offices will be set up in containers and operations will be started. They said a month will be required for training drivers on new routes.
Buses will be started soon on Park Road, B-7, PWD, I-8 and I-9 routes while approval to ply buses on these four routes has already been given, CDA officials said.
