Punjab University clashes leave five guards injured

Five security guards were injured when clashes broke out between rival studends groups in Punjab University in Lahore on Friday.
The clashes broke out between members of Pashtun Educational Movement and Punjabi Council following a spat between the students of Institute of Social and Cultural Studies. Later the students staged a protest at the canal bridge just outside the university, blocking the main busy road.
When the security guards intervened to mediate the fight, the students also beat them badly as a result of which five of the guards got injured, one of them is in critical condition.
Later the students ended their protest and flocked to the vice chancellor’s office after which the bridge was opened for the traffic.
