A court in Islamabad on Wednesday acquitted former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, other PTI leaders, including Senator Faisal Javed, and ex-party leaders, Asad Umar in the case registered against them at Tarnol police station for resorting to violence in the federal capital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Others who were acquitted in the case were Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, Ali Nawaz Awan, Abid Hussain and Zaheer Khan.
Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Shabbir accepted the petitions filed by them.
Lawyers, Amina Ali, Sardar Masroof Khan and Muhsin Ghaffar appeared in the court.
In his decision, the judge said that since the plaintiffs could not be handed down sentences in the case, therefore further trial was a mere wastage of time.
A case had been registered against the PTI and former PTI leaders on May 26, 2022 when the party had set out on its first long march after its ouster from power in April 2022.
