Fingerprint thieves’ gang arrested
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing on Friday arrested two members of a gang who were involved in stealing and selling fingerprints on social media, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Additional Director of the Cyber Crime Wing, Sarfraz Chaudhary, said that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) filed a petition in FIA regarding the sale/purchase of illegal SIMs and fingerprints on social media.
In the petition, the PTA said that these fingerprints and data are being sold on social media worth thousands of rupees.
FIA also recovered a huge quantity of fake and forged fingerprints and activated SIMs from the possession of the arrested accused.
During the initial interrogation, the accused admitted that they purchased fingerprints from social media and then used them for the activation of SIMs.
The additional director said that strict action will be taken against all the accused who were involved in selling data on social media.
